Infra projects in Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya to boost development and benefit to the countryside

Various infrastructure projects in the provinces of Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya are expected to accelerate development in the countryside upon completion. This was ascertained during the project visit on June 30 to July 1 by members of the Project Monitoring Team of the Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC).

The Quirino Water Sports and Tourism Complex (QWSTC) is expected to contribute a 10% share of the bulk of adventure tourists and sports enthusiasts from the national, regional and provincial markets.  The first of its kind in the region, with its modern amenities and facilities, the project is expected to perform well financially in the tourism market, contributing roughly P2 Billion returns to the provincial government by year 2036.

The ongoing development within the complex includes the wakeboarding main pavilion, restaurant and infinity pool, wakeboarding deck, bath house, and hostel. These facilities are set for opening in September this year in time for the celebration of Quirino Day.

The Cabarroguis RHU and Saguday RHU, both funded under the DOH-Health Facilities and Enhancement Program (HFEP), are expected to bring better health service delivery in the rural areas. The newly-rehabilitated Cabarroguis RHU, which now caters to outpatients, include a newly-constructed garage, entrance shed, and perimeter fence. On the other hand, the conference hall within the Saguday RHU will soon be a venue for fruitful discussions along the provision of health care services in the municipality.

Measuring more than 3 kilometers, the access road project leading to Lower Magat Eco-Tourism (LMET) Park will provide better and more convenient road facility around the LMET Park. With the opening of the paved road in the park, more excursionists are expected to visit the park, which will eventually boost the tourism industry and will increase livelihood opportunities in the province. The road project is funded under the DOT-DPWH Convergence Program for CY 2015.

The New Diadi Public Market, once completed, will create better environment where local producers and market goers exchange their goods and services. The public market is expected to serve around 22,000 population who currently go to the temporary public market of the municipality. The project, which is expected to be completed by August 10, 2016, was made possible though the DILG-Bottoms-up Budgeting (BUB) for CY 2015.

The concreting of the 8-kilometer Kinacao-Kurasay-Kinalabasa Road in Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya heralds the development of the pineapple industry of the province. The project will help the pineapple growers and the people of the three barangays transport farm products easier, and also provide access to more livelihood opportunities as well as basic social services. The project, which is expected to be completed by the first half of 2017, will soon serve a total of 966 households or 4,829 residents of the three barangays. The project is funded under the Konkreto at Ayos na Lansangan at Daan Tungo sa Pangkalahatang Kaunlaran (KALSADA) Program of the DILG. The Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya shelled out PhP17.71 million as counterpart in the PhP88.56 million project.

Situated along Daang Maharlika, which is a major thoroughfare in the region, the San Luis Bridge project will provide safer access to motorists plying the area. This project involves the reconstruction and widening of the San Luis Bridge with a net length of 24.62 ln.m. and budget of PhP33.0 Million. This project, that would link production areas to market centers in the area, is one of the identified projects under the Construction and Maintenance of Bridges along National Roads of the DPWH.

The road and bridge projects will result to better mobility of goods and services that will improve economic activities.

The impact of the newly completed and on-going projects are very much appreciated by the beneficiaries, the economic gains would be felt in the years to come.
